I've not read so many books as I have essays/articles. The classic is by Catholic priest and theologian Herbert McCabe called "The Class Struggle and Christian Love," which you can read here:

https://christiansocialism.com/herbert-mccabe-class-struggle-capitalism-marxism-christianity/

Eastern Orthodox theologian David Bentley Hart has also written a couple of pretty decent articles on the topic as well:

https://www.plough.com/en/topics/faith/discipleship/what-lies-beyond-capitalism

There aren't many people who make the case exactly the way I would make it—which, if you wanna know how I would make it, that's basically what my "Why Evangelical Socialism" essay is.
