Rational arguments and “objective evidence” are not the same kinds of things. What counts as objective evidence is precisely predicated on debate as to the degree to which the evidence is true to reality, which is not something we know prior to making judgments. I hope this make sense—I’m really trying not to overload things with jargon, but this is one of the most difficult topics in the philosophy of social science!
